HUMAN IMPACTS

Water pollution can be caused in so many ways- and none of them are beneficial. Water pollution isn't just littering, or plastic in our oceans. If our human population increases overtime (which is definitely will, at this rate), more freshwater will be at demand. But if we keep up with this rate of pollution, no freshwater will be left, threatening ALL human population. And by that point- it'll be too late to regret it.

Oil being carelessly poured into our waters- drinking water of all things!

Agriculture - World's Largest Freshwater User

Farming and livestock. Agriculture. Things that we use almost EVERY single day. Just agriculture alone uses almost 70% of water used by humans, but it is also a HUGE water polluter. At one point, we'll regret the fate that pesticides and fertilizers bring. The surface of these nasty chemicals result brings pesticides into waterways when it rains. This washes away all sorts of bacteria, viruses, and other nasty things back INTO our drinking water. And due to our current situation- that is NOT a good thing. These dissolved contaminants will eventually find their way back into bodies of water. In theory, we are using water, then dumping dirty water back into our clean water. The use of these not-very-conventional-sources-of-chemicals could possibly lead to the microbiological and chemical pollutants in crops, varieties of livestock products, soil, water, and ultimately damage agriculture uses.

Rain - Simple Source Of Water?

Normally, rainfall is a good thing. But good things mixed with dangerous things can be.... Well, catastrophic, you could say. Just combining a storm with human activity can harm not only marine life, but us, as well. Precipitation itself can transport large volumes of water and nasty contaminants into bodies of water. These chemicals ultimately make their way into waterways. Almost 80% of the world's wastewater flows back into the environment. Without being treated, many chemicals are extremely deadly. So many people die of unhealthy drinking water every year. Why don't we strive to stop it? There is always something that we can do. So let's do it!

Radioactive Waste

Radioactive waste- otherwise known as nuclear waste, is generated from uranium mining, nuclear power plants, and hospitals that use radioactive materials for research and medicine. Marie Curie's discovery may be useful to humans, but do we know about the effect it has on marine wildlife?

During the release of radioactive substances, such as nuclear explosions, and the testing of nuclear weapons, lead to radioactive pollution in the water.

Toxic Algae

Urgh. Just looking at the picture on the right is enough to make anyone lose their appetite. It is actually a toxic algae in water. Urgh. Even more gross, huh? When it rains, fertilizers from plants, animals waste, and pesticides come from farms, and wash out the nutrients in the water. These disgusting- well, stuff, causes toxic algae blooms. Not only do they look gross, they are harmful to plants, animals, and humans.

Downright Outrageous.

Last but not least... plastic pollution. Plastic littering may yet be the most outrageous, and most raging pollution of them all. I mean.... At least there's a reason we use fertilizers. Plastic pollution can be prevented in such easy ways, but we don't do it. We don't do things because.... Well, why do we do such things? It's stupid. It's outrageous. It's not even needed. You just do it since you're lazy. Plastic pollution can come from even the tiniest of things.
